BOTOX is administered to the muscle that creates a wrinkle. BOTOX temporarily blocks the nerve impulse from reaching that area and, as a result, weakens the muscle. As the muscle relaxes, wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear completely. Which wrinkles can best be treated with BOTOX?BOTOX is most commonly used to treat the vertical wrinkles or "frown lines" between your eyebrows, the long prominent creases across your forehead and crow’s feet emanating from the corners of your eyes. Some individuals who think they need a brow lift are surprised to find that BOTOX treatment for wrinkles in the forehead area provides the lift they are looking for. How long Does BOTOX last?BOTOX offers sustained benefits, dose after dose, over the course of long-term treatment. The full effect of BOTOX may not be apparent for several days or even a few weeks. Your first treatment will last approximately three months, with a gradual fading of its effects. At that time, you will return for your next treatment. As you continue to receive BOTOX treatment, the effects will last even longer, up to six months. For crow’s feet, more frequent treatments may be needed. How long can I be treated with BOTOX?Treatment with BOTOX Botulinum Toxin Type A can typically be repeated as long as the patient continues to respond and does not have a serious allergic reaction. BOTOX has been used for over 10 years commercially worldwide. Acceptable safety in long-term treatment has been well established. What can I expect from BOTOX treatment?Within days, you'll see a marked improvement which may continue to improve for as long as a week and should last up to 4 months. BOTOX requires little recovery. The procedure is administered with a very tiny needle applied to the area to be treated. There is little if any resulting redness or swelling at the injection site. Most people who receive BOTOX treatment return to work or attend social engagements immediately following their treatment. Am I a candidate for BOTOX treatment? As long as you are not pregnant, or have been told by a physician that you should not have BOTOX due to a specific neurological condition, you are likely a good candidate. Our highly trained staff and physicians will carefully examine you and take a medical history, with special attention given to your eyes, prior to the administration of any BOTOX treatment. |
